Transformation Engineer at Insight Enterprises, Inc. — remote job on CafeRemote

Insight Enterprises is hiring a Transformation Engineer to work with customers on Google Workspace adoption. The role sits in the company's Google Workspace Practice and is customer-facing, mixing business analysis, data modeling, and application development. It is a remote position based in the United States.

You would design, prototype, and lead deployment of scalable applications that help customers get more out of Google Workspace. The job is hands-on: testing, troubleshooting, and building working prototypes that prove out ideas. You would also help customer developers as they work with AppSheet and Apps Script.

What you will do

  • Design, prototype, and lead deployment of scalable applications for customer use of Google Workspace
  • Test and troubleshoot solutions, and build functioning prototypes
  • Meet with corporate and enterprise customers as part of consultative work transformation services
  • Help build up customer developers working with AppSheet and Apps Script
  • Translate technical concepts into business value for customers

What they are looking for

  • 3+ years of AppSheet experience, with multiple apps built and deployed, including integrations and automation
  • Experience with complex integrations, governance, mentoring, and architectural input for no-code solutions
  • Ability to build mobile and web applications from scratch using AppSheet views such as forms, dashboards, detail views, cards, maps, and charts
  • Strong proficiency in AppSheet's expression language for logic, calculations, conditional formatting, data validation, security rules, and dynamic behavior
  • Experience designing and configuring AppSheet automation features (events, processes, tasks) for workflows, notifications, reports, and integrations
  • Ability to design and manage relational data structures in AppSheet, including table keys, references, and slices
  • Experience with row-level security, column-level security, user roles, and deployment security practices
  • Strong expertise in Google Sheets, including advanced formulas, data validation, pivot tables, queries, and array formulas
  • Experience connecting AppSheet to data sources such as Google Cloud SQL (MySQL, PostgreSQL), BigQuery, Excel Online, Salesforce, Smartsheet, or other SQL/NoSQL databases
  • Ability to integrate AppSheet with external systems and APIs, directly or through intermediate services
  • Proficiency in JavaScript and Google Apps Script to extend AppSheet and integrate with Gmail, Calendar, and Drive
  • Ability to break complex problems into smaller components and design logic
  • Time management for multiple streams and concurrent customer projects

Soft skills

  • Explain technical concepts clearly to business users and gather requirements
  • Strong written communication for app documentation, user guides, and process flows
  • Work with business stakeholders, end-users, IT teams, and other developers
  • Work semi-independently, identifying opportunities and building solutions
  • Willingness to keep learning as the no-code space and AppSheet change
  • Precision in data modeling, expression writing, and configuration
  • Patience when working with citizen developers and business users
  • Find new ways to solve business challenges using AppSheet

Certificates

  • Cloud Digital Leader, or complete within the first 30 days
  • Generative AI Leader, or complete within the first 60 days
  • Associate Cloud Engineer, or complete within the first 180 days of employment

Useful qualifications

  • Direct experience with a variety of cloud technologies and designing solutions that drive business outcomes
  • Experience developing solutions for large data sets and cloud-based applications
  • Broad knowledge of systems and application development, database systems, technology tools, and programming languages
  • Ability to lead an in-depth client meeting or workshop on topics including discovery, cloud compliance, and security
  • Ability to recommend cloud-native approaches to customer business and technical challenges
  • Understanding of best practices, design patterns, and reference architectures

Travel and hours

Travel is less than 10% to customer sites, conferences, and related events. The role focuses primarily on North America, but flexibility may be required because of SADA's, an Insight company, global presence.
