Manager, Customer Activation, Mid-Market at Ramp — remote job on CafeRemote

Ramp is hiring a Manager, Customer Activation, Mid-Market in New York, NY (HQ). You will be a front-line manager to a group of 6-8 Customer Success Managers, each handling about 60 activations at a time in Ramp's Mid Market portfolio. The role is for someone who has led implementation or CSM teams and can build a repeatable activation motion that lets the team grow without adding headcount in proportion.

About Ramp

Ramp builds finance infrastructure embedded in the transaction flow of every dollar a business spends. It automates how over $275B in annualized spend moves in and out of 85,000+ companies: authorizing payments, flagging risk, categorizing spend, and closing books. The company says the median Ramp customer saves 7.5% and grows revenue 16% in their first year. Ramp hires for high agency and high urgency, looks for slope over intercept, and cares less about where you trained than what you have built.

What you will do

  • Manage a group of CSMs to drive thorough, efficient onboarding and product activation for medium and large customers.
  • Set and maintain a high-performing culture and morale on the team.
  • Oversee daily activities and quota performance management for individual CSMs so the team exceeds onboarding and spend activation goals while keeping strong CSAT.
  • Refine best-practice playbooks and improve team output and efficiency by optimizing systems and processes.
  • Build and execute career development and leadership plans for direct reports, including daily 1:1 mentoring, coaching on sales skills, product knowledge, call feedback, and enablement sessions.
  • Act as a voice of the customer and contribute to retaining and expanding the Mid Market segment.
  • Build and use internal AI tools and Salesforce dashboards to monitor customer success and team performance.
  • Report on team performance and forecast to senior leadership.
  • Represent the CSM team with leaders across Sales, Marketing, Operations, Risk, and Product.

What they are looking for

  • 3+ years building and leading implementation or CSM teams, with a record of exceeding goals.
  • Success in fast-paced, results-oriented go-to-market environments, ideally at SaaS companies.
  • Ability to identify trends, translate company strategy into team priorities, and drive initiatives that improve team metrics.
  • Experience coaching teams on selling the full platform, with multi-product adoption, cross-sell, and upsell across a book of business.
  • A track record of pushing pace on input metrics, building repeatable playbooks, and optimizing processes.
  • Strong collaboration and influencing skills across Sales, Product, Operations, and other GTM teams.
  • Comfort with AI tools and their use in CS workflows, including leading a team through AI-driven process change.
  • Understanding of customer financial workflows such as AP/AR, spend controls, and month-end close, and ability to coach CSMs on ROI-grounded conversations with controllers and finance leaders.
  • Proficiency with Salesforce, Looker, and Excel, and the ability to use data to make decisions and improve processes.

Nice to have

  • CPA or equivalent accounting certification, or deep knowledge of accounting software such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, Xero, or Sage.
  • Experience with financial services sales or selling into finance and accounting personas.
  • Experience at a high-growth startup in enterprise or mid-market customer success.
  • Familiarity with contribution profit models or usage-based revenue metrics.
  • Experience leading teams through AI adoption or workflow automation.
