Position: GCP-Focused DevOps Engineer
Company: HappyFunCorp (Tiny Company)
Location: Remote 

HappyFunCorp is seeking a GCP-focused DevOps Engineer to support our Tactical Health Program. You’ll be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining secure, HIPAA-compliant infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform, powering mobile health programs, notifications, and lab ingestion services. While your main focus will be infrastructure and operations, we value engineers who can also contribute to backend development when bandwidth allows.  

Key Responsibilities 

• Collaborate with engineering and architecture teams to design, provision, and manage HIPAA-compliant GCP infrastructure (Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Cloud SQL, Cloud Tasks, IAM).
  
  
• Implement and maintain infrastructure-as-code using Terraform.
  
  
• Set up and monitor CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or equivalent).
  
  
• Establish observability through uptime/latency monitoring, Sentry integration, alerting, and logging pipelines.
  
  
• Ensure role-based access control (RBAC), encryption, and audit logging across all environments.
  
  
• Support backup and disaster recovery processes for Cloud SQL.
  
  
• Participate in agile development, contributing to sprint planning and backlog refinement.
  
  
• When available, assist backend engineers with development tasks (REST APIs, notification services, lab ingestion pipelines).

Requirements
 

• Minimum of 8 years of DevOps experience.
  
  
• Proven expertise with Google Cloud Platform (Cloud Run, Functions, SQL, IAM, Cloud Tasks).
  
  
• Strong knowledge of Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code tools.
  
  
• Experience managing CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments.
  
  
• Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools (GCP Monitoring, Sentry, PostHog, etc.).
  
  
• Solid understanding of security and compliance best practices (HIPAA preferred).
  
  
• Excellent communicator with a collaborative mindset, comfortable working across design, backend, and product teams.

Nice to Have
 

• Experience supporting healthcare or compliance-sensitive systems.
  
  
• Background contributing to backend development (Node.js, TypeScript, Python).
  
  
• Familiarity with OCR or ML services (e.g., Google Vision API).
  
  
• Prior exposure to high-availability scheduling or notification systems.
