Engineering Manager, Mobile

Replit is hiring an Engineering Manager, Mobile to lead its mobile experiences. You would build and manage a team that bridges design and engineering, working on mobile interfaces that let people create software from a phone or tablet with the same power as on desktop. The role is based in Replit's Foster City, CA office.

Replit describes itself as an agentic software creation platform that lets anyone build applications using natural language. It has millions of users worldwide and says it is removing traditional barriers to application creation.

What you will do

• Build, mentor, and grow a team of mobile design engineers, with a focus on technical excellence and design craftsmanship.
• Define the technical vision and strategy for mobile design systems, setting frameworks and patterns that ship to production and scale across iOS, Android, and responsive web.
• Work closely with design, product, and engineering leadership to prioritize mobile initiatives and keep design and development teams aligned.
• Set best practices for mobile-first development so the team builds production-grade patterns that deliver consistent, high-quality experiences while optimizing for performance.
• Oversee the architecture of complex mobile UI components and systems, giving technical guidance and code review to keep standards high.
• Champion accessible, responsive interfaces through well-architected frameworks, and establish processes that improve the mobile design-to-development workflow.
• Balance hands-on technical work with people management, staying close enough to the code to guide architectural decisions.

What they are looking for

• 3+ years of engineering management experience, with a track record of building and scaling high-performing teams.
• Proven experience building production frameworks and component systems that scale across products.
• A deep technical background in mobile development, including experience with some of: mobile-specific web APIs, native mobile development (Swift/Kotlin), React and React Native or similar cross-platform frameworks, PWAs, mobile design patterns, and complex UI animations and gesture-based interactions.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to balance technical leadership with people management, including mentoring, performance management, and career development.

Bonus qualifications

• You are an active Replit mobile user who cares about accessible software creation.
• You have experience building or leading mobile design or developer tools teams.
• You have an interest in AI on mobile devices.
• You have contributed to open-source mobile design systems or UI libraries.

Pay, location, and benefits

The salary range is $200K to $320K, and the role includes equity. This is a full-time role that can be held from the Foster City, CA office, with an in-office requirement of Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
