Sr Software Engineer, Edge

Cribl is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to work on Cribl Edge, a vendor-neutral, multi-platform agent for edge-based data collection. The role is remote in the United States, and the main job is building and maintaining back-end features for data collection across hundreds of thousands of Edge nodes on Windows, Linux, and Mac.

This is for an engineer who understands operating systems at a low level, writes testable code, and has shipped software in TypeScript. You would join a remote-first company that works with IT and security teams at large enterprises.

What you will do

• Design, build, and optimize software for data collection agents running on Windows, Linux, and Mac
• Work with UX designers, product managers, and other engineers to turn feature requirements into high-performance user experiences
• Own the development lifecycle from design and implementation through testing and maintenance
• Write automated tests and test plans to keep code and product features reliable
• Help maintain and support SaaS products, including periodic participation in a 24x7 on-call rotation
• Take on stand-by, on-call, or off-hours duties as needed

What they are looking for

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a similar field
• Strong understanding of operating system fundamentals: memory management, CPU architecture and scheduling, filesystems, process lifecycles, and networking
• Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills
• A track record of writing clean, maintainable, testable code
• Experience using current AI tools to speed up feature delivery without lowering quality
• Clear verbal and written communication, including explaining complex technical topics to stakeholders
• Commitment to ownership and to meeting high standards for quality and performance
• Professional experience developing software with TypeScript
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Experience with assertion frameworks and tools for automating regression tests, such as Mocha
• Prior work on data-intensive applications or data stream processing
• Experience working remotely across timezones

Pay and benefits

The base salary range for this role is USD 160,000 to 210,000 per year. Pay depends on geographic location and on the individual candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
