Cribl is hiring a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to work on its telemetry platform, which IT and security teams at large enterprises use to manage and analyze observability data. This is a remote role within the United States, part of the engineering organization, and it comes with on-call or off-hours duties. It suits an engineer who wants to be involved from design through production and who has strong opinions about reliability, scaling, and high availability.
What you will do
- Work with teams to improve service delivery and reliability across the full lifecycle
- Measure and monitor production systems for availability, latency, and overall health
- Find the causes of errors and instability in production cloud services and push teams toward better operational practices
- Work with product and platform teams to change systems for better reliability, resilience, and observability
- Identify toil and reduce it through automation
- Take part in stand-by, on-call, or off-hours duties
The team says fixing things on the operational side should be a last resort, so SREs join from conception and design through development, production, and beyond. You would give input on cloud, scaling, reliability, and high availability.
What they are looking for
- Experience designing, implementing, and operating observability systems for complex cloud platforms, with knowledge of best practices
- Configuration management and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform (preferred) or Ansible; cloud SDK experience is a plus
- Knowledge of cloud platforms, with AWS and Azure preferred, plus containers and orchestration
- Experience with APM and observability tools such as New Relic, Splunk, CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana/Kibana, or Sentry
- Experience with enterprise-scale continuous delivery environments
- Development with JavaScript, Node.js, or TypeScript in a Linux or Mac environment
- Experience with incident response in a blameless environment
- A background in Linux systems engineering
- Familiarity with incident response tools such as PagerDuty, FireHydrant, or Blameless
- Comfort working with a high level of autonomy on a distributed team
- Knowledge of cloud and application security practices
- Knowledge of cloud design patterns for scale, data management, and resiliency
- A focus on quality and testing
- Opinions about business metrics and SLOs
Pay and benefits
The base salary range for this role is USD 141,800 to 195,000 per year. Pay depends on geographic location and the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Employees are eligible for the Cribl Corporate Bonus Program. Benefits include health, dental, vision, short-term disability, and life insurance, paid holidays and paid time off, a fertility treatment benefit, 401(k), and equity.
