Capital One Shopping is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) who is driven to optimize, automate, and scale business-critical systems for a rapidly expanding user base. Our team leverages data and technology to help millions of customers find the best deals while shopping online. We manage massive amounts of data and traffic—requiring engineers who can enhance system performance and build next-generation infrastructure to support future growth.  

Key Responsibilities 

• Lead multiple technology projects with expertise in distributed microservices and full-stack systems to meet business and regulatory goals.
  
  
• Contribute across various codebases to deliver improvements in performance, reliability, compliance, and revenue.
  
  
• Enhance platforms supporting developers, business teams, and customers.
  
  
• Increase visibility into business-critical operations by defining Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and managing error budgets.
  
  
• Stay ahead of emerging technologies, experiment with new tools, mentor peers, and occasionally write or review production code.
  
  
• Collaborate with product managers to design and deliver secure, scalable, cloud-based solutions that empower millions of Americans financially.
  
  
• Utilize technologies such as Node.js, Docker, AWS, Kafka, Cassandra, OpenSearch, and Postgres to optimize and automate core services.
  
  

Basic Qualifications
 

• Bachelor’s Degree
  
  
• Minimum 6 years of professional software engineering experience (excluding internships)
  
  
• At least 1 year of experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  
  

Preferred Qualifications
 

• Master’s Degree
  
  
• 9+ years of experience with Node.js, Go, or Python
  
  
• 3+ years of experience with AWS
  
  
• Expertise in security and performance tuning for large-scale microservices
  
  
• 3+ years of on-call experience supporting internet-scale systems
  
  

Compensation & Benefits
 

• Remote: $204,900 – $233,800 (Sr. Lead Software Engineer)
  
  
• McLean, VA: $225,400 – $257,200 (Sr. Lead Software Engineer)
  
  
• Eligible for performance-based incentives including bonuses or long-term awards.
