Transcom is hiring Technical and Customer Experience Advisors to work from home as the friendly voice of a telecommunications client. You will support customers with smartphones, tablets, and computers, answering questions about products and services and troubleshooting technical issues. This is a full-time employee position, not an independent contractor role, and it is open to people living in Manitoba, New Brunswick, or Ontario.
What you will do
You will take high-volume inbound calls from customers. You will listen, analyze, and isolate technical issues, then walk callers through solutions step by step. Customers may also ask about services on their account, need help enrolling in or canceling a service, or want to dispute a charge. You will move between multiple applications to research answers while staying accurate and timely on the phone.
Some calls involve frustrated customers, so you will need to stay calm and handle conflict well. The role is structured: you work a full-time schedule of 35 to 44 hours per week, with overtime as needed, and shifts can include evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.
What they are looking for
- At least 18 years old
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Able to pass a criminal background check
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
- Strong computer knowledge, including typing at least 30 wpm
- Able to maintain strict adherence to the assigned schedule and reliable attendance
- Able to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Comfortable navigating multiple applications while talking on the phone
- Able to actively listen, show empathy, and solve problems
- Courteous, friendly, and professional
- Willing to follow procedures and policies
- Able to sit, reach, communicate, type, read, multitask, and concentrate for prolonged periods
- Able to use your hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls
Preferred experience includes reviewing financial transactions and helping customers enroll in or cancel a service or dispute a charge, technical support or troubleshooting, and previous call center or work-from-home experience.
Pay and benefits
- $19.50 CAD starting pay
- Performance-based incentives each month
- Pay increases with continuous learning and advancement to new tiers of support
- Health benefits for you and your family, including medical, dental, and vision
- Paid vacation time
- Computer equipment provided
- 100% remote, including training
- Position as a Transcom employee
Work-from-home requirements
Transcom provides an all-in-one computer, monitor, and headset. The computer has a built-in webcam that must be used for training and meetings. You need a secure, quiet, distraction-free work environment with no conflicting responsibilities during your shift, including caring for a family member. Your home office must be a private room with a door and cannot be a shared space. The monitor cannot face a window if the office is on a ground floor.
You must have DSL, Fiber, or Cable internet hardwired into a modem or router via Ethernet. Dial-up, wireless, mobile hotspot, and satellite service cannot be used. Minimum speeds are 20 Mbps download, 3 Mbps upload, and ping under 100 ms. To complete the typing and internet speed assessments during the application, you need a home desktop or laptop hardwired with an Ethernet connection.
