Money Laundering Reporting Officer, Canada at Ramp — remote job on CafeRemote
All Other Remote Full-time Canada

Ramp is hiring a Money Laundering Reporting Officer for its FINTRAC-registered Money Services Business entity in Canada. This is the legally appointed compliance officer under the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act and its Regulations, responsible for the AML/ATF compliance program and for reporting suspicious transactions to FINTRAC. It is a standalone, high-accountability role: you own Ramp Canada's AML program end to end, act as the main point of contact for FINTRAC and Ramp's financial partners in the region, and protect the Canadian entity from financial crime.

About Ramp

Ramp builds finance infrastructure embedded in the transaction flow of every dollar a business spends. It automates how over $275B in annualized spend moves in and out of 85,000+ companies: authorizing payments, flagging risk, categorizing spend, and closing books. The company says the median Ramp customer saves 7.5% and grows revenue 16% in their first year. Ramp hires for high agency and high urgency, looks for slope over intercept, and cares less about where you trained than what you have built.

What you will do

  • Serve as RBCC's MLRO, with authority over AML/ATF program design, execution, and effectiveness.
  • Act as primary regulatory contact with FINTRAC, managing supervisory correspondence, reporting, and exam readiness.
  • Make STR filing determinations and file suspicious transaction reports.
  • Run day-to-day transaction monitoring and sanctions screening triage and investigation for the Canadian book.
  • Own and maintain RBCC's AML/ATF risk assessment, refreshing it as products, geography, and risk profile evolve, including Quebec onboarding.
  • Develop, document, and deliver the ongoing compliance training program.
  • Define and stand up operational workstreams for Canada, including case types, SLAs, escalation paths, and tooling.
  • Negotiate and clarify AML/compliance requirements directly with BMO, Ramp's Canadian banking partner, and other partners as new products and use cases come online.
  • Partner with Ramp's US Compliance, Legal, and Regulatory Affairs teams on cross-border projects and Canada's continued expansion.
  • Work with the Global and Engineering teams to find automation and efficiency opportunities and lead AI-driven initiatives.

What they are looking for

  • 8+ years of financial services experience in compliance, AML, or related regulatory advisory roles, preferably in fintech or at an MSB.
  • Deep working knowledge of FINTRAC's supervisory expectations and regulations.
  • Direct experience interfacing with regulators and bank partners.
  • AI fluency and demonstrated experience using AI to build and scale AML programs.
  • Comfort operating as a standalone compliance lead with independent judgment on filing and escalation decisions.
  • Experience building an AML program from a nascent or early stage, not only maintaining an established one.
  • Fintech or payments domain experience (card issuing, corporate expense, high-velocity digital transaction monitoring) is strongly preferred over a traditional retail-branch compliance background.

Nice to have

  • Fluency in French.
  • Experience supporting an MSB registration or licensing process, such as provincial registrations like Quebec.
  • Prior cross-border or group compliance structure experience.
  • Data analysis skills.

Pay and benefits

The salary range is CA$230K to CA$315K, with equity offered. Canada benefits include group medical, dental, and vision coverage through Sun Life; life, AD&D, and disability coverage; fertility drug coverage up to $4,000 lifetime; a Group Retirement Plan with employer match (RRSP + DPSP); parental leave of up to 16 weeks (birthing + bonding) or 8 weeks (bonding only) at 100% pay, with additional time at reduced pay; and an Employee Assistance Program and virtual care through Lumino Health. Global benefits for full-time employees include flexible PTO, centralized home-office equipment ordering, a health and wellness stipend, a budget for intra-office travel, and a weekly coffee stipend.
