Data Analyst

micro1 is hiring Data Analysts as contractors to work on a customer's data quality project. The work involves reviewing datasets and task outputs against written guidelines, and it feeds into training AI systems. You do not need any background in AI for this role; the company says your data and analytical experience is what matters. The position is remote and open to people based in the United States.

What you will do

• Review datasets and detailed task outputs for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to guidelines.
• Identify and flag inconsistencies, errors, and outputs that deviate from the instructions you are given.
• Apply structured rubrics and evaluation criteria consistently across large data sets.
• Use your judgment in ambiguous scenarios where the guidelines are unclear, and document your reasoning.
• Escalate patterns or recurring data issues for further analysis instead of handling them one at a time.
• Give clear written and verbal feedback that pinpoints issues and suggests how to resolve them.
• Keep close attention to detail while working through high volumes of repetitive data review assignments.

What they are looking for

• 3–5+ years of experience in data review, data quality, quality assurance, or analytical roles.
• A track record of reviewing, validating, and critiquing data or deliverables against explicit criteria.
• The ability to follow detailed written instructions and apply complex evaluation rubrics precisely.
• Comfort with ambiguity, including making decisions you can justify when guidelines are incomplete.
• Advanced attention to detail and the ability to spot errors across repetitive, high-volume work.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting findings and giving feedback.
• Baseline fluency with spreadsheets — sorting, filtering, simple formulas. SQL or hands-on data querying is a plus.
• Experience with data annotation, labeling, or rubric-based evaluation is advantageous.

The role is a contractor position. Location is remote, and applicants must be based in the United States. Pay is USD 30 – 60 per hour.
