Vice President, Global Communications
MongoDB · United States · posted 5 days ago
MongoDB is hiring a Vice President of Global Communications to lead how the company's point of view reaches the market. This is not a traditional corporate communications role: you will work with the CMO, CEO, and technical leaders to sharpen the ideas MongoDB wants to be known for and get them in front of the people, and increasingly the AI systems, that shape technology decisions.
The role may be based in a hybrid capacity at any U.S. office or fully remote within the United States.
What you will own
- Narrative and communications strategy: Partner with the CMO and senior leadership to turn the company narrative into a clear external agenda that holds across executive communications, major company moments, and channels such as media, analysts, and social.
- Decision making: Judge what is worth talking about, where MongoDB has something differentiated to say, and how to make it land globally.
- Executive communications: Build platforms for the CEO and other senior leaders, sharpen their points of view, and put them in front of the audiences that matter.
- Media, social and influence: Lead how MongoDB shows up across traditional and technical media, social media, influencers, creators, podcasts, newsletters, and emerging platforms, building relationships and finding new ones as influence moves.
- Industry analyst relations: Build strategic relationships with the analysts shaping how enterprises understand the market and MongoDB's position in it.
- The big moments: Own how the story lands at launches, keynotes, earnings, partnerships, competitive moments, and reputation issues, bringing market insight, product positioning and proof, and developer perspective into one narrative, then leading media, analyst, and influencer strategy, timing, and execution.
- Leading the global communications team: Build and lead a team across corporate, executive, product, analyst, social, internal, and regional communications, with a global strategy that works across markets.
What they are looking for
- Excellent judgment: you can take in a lot of information, quickly figure out what matters and where the real story is, and turn ideas and opportunities into action.
- Fluency in AI, application architecture, and data infrastructure, enough to engage credibly with technical executives, developers, product leaders, technical media, and analysts.
- Strong media and analyst relationships, an understanding of social and influencer ecosystems, and curiosity about where audiences are moving and how AI is changing discovery and recommendation.
- Experience as an executive counselor: able to work with senior executives, challenge their thinking when needed, and turn an interesting idea into a point of view people remember.
- Experience as an operator and global leader: building and developing teams and culture, creating clarity when things are messy, and turning high-stakes moments into clear plans with owners, decisions, and deadlines.
