What you will do

  • Produce timely, accurate news and analysis on US LNG and natural gas markets, including supply, demand, and pricing dynamics, and explain how they affect global LNG trade, pricing, and shipping flows.
  • Write sharp, concise news copy.
  • Monitor US gas production, feed gas flows, pipeline capacity, LNG export terminals, liquefaction buildout, and regulatory developments including FERC and DOE, using Kpler and industry sources.
  • Generate original story ideas, including breaking news and exclusives, and identify trends, anomalies, and underreported developments.
  • Use Kpler data and tools to originate data-led stories.
  • Work closely with reporters, analysts, and data teams to shape story angles and keep coverage consistent across the LNG value chain.
  • Build and use a network of industry and regulatory contacts to break news, validate information, and deliver exclusive insights.
  • React quickly to breaking developments and file accurate coverage under tight deadlines.

What they are looking for

  • 2+ years' experience in business, energy, or commodities journalism, delivering news under deadline pressure.
  • Direct experience covering LNG and/or US natural gas markets, with a clear grasp of how US gas market dynamics connect to global LNG flows, pricing, and shipping.
  • Strong understanding of commodities markets, including how supply, demand, and pricing interact.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision and produce a steady flow of stories in a fast-paced environment.
  • A track record of accurate reporting and sound editorial judgment, with the ability to identify the most market-relevant developments and explain their implications clearly.
  • Excellent command of English, with concise, authoritative writing, strong headline writing, and story framing.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate original story ideas and pursue leads beyond assigned coverage.
  • An existing network of industry sources across LNG, natural gas, or energy markets, and the ability to use contacts to break news and validate information.
