What You’ll Be Doing As a Backend Engineer, you’ll collaborate with our agile development team to maintain and enhance our core infrastructure, APIs, and backend architecture. Reporting directly to the Head of Engineering, you’ll play a vital role in keeping our technology smooth, scalable, and efficient. 

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities 

• Implement new features and maintain existing APIs and services.
• Troubleshoot, monitor, and enhance backend processes.
• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code to ensure robust functionality.
• Propose innovative solutions and continuously refactor the codebase.
• Collaborate with teammates across Slack channels (our foodie chat “youcancookme” is legendary!).
• Contribute to brainstorming and problem-solving discussions.

What We’re Looking For We’re seeking experienced developers who love crafting elegant solutions and collaborating in a dynamic environment.

Core Skills
 

• Proficiency in Java (J2SE/J2EE) and Spring framework.
• Hands-on experience with RESTful APIs, MySQL, Redis, and OAuth.
• Familiarity with Git, Maven, and AWS services (Beanstalk, RDS, DynamoDB).
• Understanding of libraries like Apache Commons, Apache HTTP Client, and java.time.
• Bonus: Knowledge of Twilio APIs, Google APIs, WebDAV/CalDAV.

Ideal Candidate
 

• At least 4 years of backend development experience.
• Strong problem-solving mindset with an eye for scalability.
• Located in a time zone within +/- 2 hours of GMT.
