As we gear up for our next growth phase, we’re looking for a talented developer to join our senior-level, remote engineering team.

About the Team

We are a fully remote development team with three senior engineers. Our daily stand-up is at 9:00 AM MST. We value strong collaboration, clean code, and thoughtful solutions.

About the Role

This is a critical engineering role focused on Ruby on Rails, legacy React code, and optionally Hotwire, all running on Heroku. You’ll be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and improving WebPunch’s systems for performance, reliability, and quality. This is a great fit for a developer who enjoys working across legacy and modern tech stacks while ensuring stability, security, and business continuity.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and monitor subsystems (email, SMS, data ingestion, etc.) for uptime and performance
  
  
• Proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve system issues
  
  
• Collaborate across teams to optimize architecture and improve simplicity
  
  
• Track system health using logs, alerts, and monitoring tools
  
  
• Write and maintain tests (unit, integration, end-to-end)
  
  
• Investigate, document, and resolve bugs efficiently
  
  
• Ensure code quality and compliance with internal and external standards
  
  
• Create and maintain process documentation and system playbooks
  
  

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in web development
  
  
• Strong experience in Ruby on Rails
  
  
• Experience with PostgreSQL and query optimization
  
  
• Solid understanding of Heroku infrastructure
  
  
• Experience navigating logs and errors (Airbrake, Coralogix a plus)
  
  
• Strong testing practice using RSpec and Capybara
  
  
• Proficient with Git/GitHub workflows
  
  
• Comfortable with legacy code and large-scale refactoring
  
  
• Collaborative mindset and strong problem-solving skills
  
  

Preferred Technical Experience

• React and JavaScript (legacy support)
  
  
• Hotwire (preferred as we transition from React)
  
  
• Web APIs (building and consuming)
  
  
• Redis and Sidekiq
  
  
• Google My Business experience is a bonus
