Position Overview: Director of Investments – Real Estate

Our client, a Real Estate Investment Firm, is seeking a Director of Investments to lead the growth of their real estate division. This leadership role will focus on sourcing, underwriting, and managing private real estate investments.

The ideal candidate will bring institutional investment experience while thriving in an entrepreneurial environment. This role requires both strategic leadership and hands-on execution, often working independently without relying on a large team.

Key Responsibilities

Investment Strategy & Firm Growth

• Shape long-term investment strategy and portfolio growth initiatives
  
  
• Lead and engage in investment committee discussions and decisions
  
  
• Design scalable processes for investment evaluation and asset management
  
  
• Explore and integrate financial technology and analytics tools
  
  
• Ensure compliance with legal and tax requirements
  
  
• Support capital market analysis and engage with family offices, advisors, and institutions
  
  

Investment Sourcing & Underwriting

• Manage the investment pipeline, identifying and evaluating new opportunities
  
  
• Conduct detailed financial modeling, underwriting, and risk assessment
  
  
• Develop advanced investment models, including capital stack and waterfall modeling
  
  
• Conduct market, asset, and partner due diligence
  
  
• Prepare and present investment memorandums and recommendations
  
  

Asset Management

• Monitor asset performance to meet or exceed return targets
  
  
• Advise and implement value-add strategies to improve asset profitability
  
  
• Track KPIs and financial performance
  
  
• Manage relationships with partners, property managers, and stakeholders
  
  
• Deliver clear and accurate investor reports
  
  

Required Qualifications & Experience

• 10+ years in real estate investment, blending institutional experience with boutique adaptability
  
  
• Expertise in private equity real estate underwriting and structuring
  
  
• Strong background in Multifamily preferred (other asset classes considered with relevant experience)
  
  
• Advanced financial modeling and risk analysis skills
  
  
• Proven deal execution and portfolio strategy experience
  
  
• Strong market knowledge and understanding of investment cycles
  
  
• Experience managing partner and capital relationships
  
  
• Proficiency in Excel, CoStar, Yardi, Juniper Square, and similar tools
  
  
• Excellent organizational, communication, and priority management skills
  
  
• Equity relationships and capital-raising experience a plus
