Associate Renewals Manager, SMB at GitLab — remote job on CafeRemote
All Other Remote the United States Canada

GitLab is hiring an Associate Renewals Manager, SMB to manage a portfolio of customer renewals and drive them to on-time closure. This is an individual-contributor, tactical role that reports to the Manager, Renewals. It suits someone who can run basic renewal processes on their own, has some exposure to more complex deals, and is comfortable following defined frameworks while flagging exceptions to senior team members or their manager. The role is remote and open to candidates in Canada and the United States.

What you will do

  • Manage an assigned portfolio of customer renewals, tracking key dates and driving them to on-time closure.
  • Hold consultative conversations with customers through the renewal cycle to understand how they use the product and where they are headed next.
  • Identify and surface expansion opportunities such as additional seats, tiers, or modules that come out of those conversations.
  • Probe for new use cases and unmet needs in existing accounts, connecting what customers describe to GitLab capabilities they are not yet using.
  • Prepare and send renewal quotes, order forms, and related documentation accurately and on schedule, structured to reflect any expansion identified.
  • Analyze moderately complex renewal situations by reviewing usage trends, contract terms, pricing, and existing account factors, escalating anything unusual to a senior team member or manager and helping mitigate risk.
  • Explain moderately complex renewal terms and issues to customers and internal stakeholders, working to build alignment.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Customer Success, and Finance to identify expansion opportunities, resolve blockers, and keep renewals moving.
  • Communicate proactively and transparently with customers and internal stakeholders, adapting to GitLab's communication framework.
  • Keep accurate, up-to-date records in the CRM and renewals system for forecasting and reporting.
  • Prioritize tasks with guidance from more senior team members, and contribute to team goals alongside peer Renewals Managers.

What they are looking for

  • Ability to execute basic renewal processes independently, with exposure to more advanced scenarios such as multi-year deals, upsell-attached renewals, or non-standard terms.
  • A developing understanding of GitLab's way of working, values, and high-performance culture, and awareness of its remote work practices.
  • A growth mindset and sense of ownership: proactively seeking ways to learn and improve, and taking action rather than waiting for direction.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with comfort managing many renewals at once.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to follow defined processes and frameworks while flagging exceptions appropriately.
  • A collaborative mindset and openness to feedback and coaching from senior teammates and your manager.
  • Ability to travel for events such as trainings, team offsites, and customer meetings.
