Rephrased Job Description

We are hiring a Senior Full-Stack Engineer to help build the next-generation data management and AI platform powering maritime domain awareness.

At Spear AI, we design and build sonobuoy sensors deployed in the ocean to capture edge data, and we partner with the U.S. Navy to process SONAR datasets. In this role, you will work on mission-critical systems that directly enhance warfighter capabilities.

What You’ll Do

As part of a small, high-impact team, you’ll take on a wide range of responsibilities, including:

  • Updating real-time pipelines using MQTT and Redpanda

  • Enhancing offline pipelines with Dagster

  • Integrating ML models and algorithms

  • Improving development workflows and CI/CD with modern tools & GitHub Actions

Who You Are

We’re seeking an engineer with strong full-stack experience who aligns with our core values:

  • You sweat the details—everything from linting to type safety to testing matters

  • You prioritize correctness and reliability for downstream users

  • You care deeply about performance and optimization

  • You explore, experiment, and understand systems at a low level

  • You stay ahead of emerging technologies

  • You communicate clearly and enjoy teaching others

Skills We Value

Required:

  • TypeScript expertise

  • Strong CSS skills (TailwindCSS preferred)

  • React & frameworks like Next.js

  • State management (React Context)

  • Docker & Kubernetes

  • Python familiarity

Nice-to-Have:

  • IoT device or sensor experience

  • Digital signal processing

  • Geospatial/GIS experience

  • Monorepo experience

Why You’ll Love Working With Us

  • We ship fast — no endless 18-month cycles

  • High-impact work — our products are deployed on U.S. submarines and integrated with sonobuoys we manufacture

  • Responsible growth — we hire intentionally, not excessively

  • Fully remote — work from anywhere, collaborate via Slack and GitHub

  • Profitable & backed — a stable company with committed investors

  • Craftsmanship culture — quality matters, and details are valued

  • Humility + mission — we take the mission seriously, not ourselves

Benefits & Perks

  • Unlimited PTO

  • Dedicated sick leave

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits

  • 11 paid holidays

  • Professional development support

  • Collaborative, flat organization

  • Mission-driven work with real-world impact
