The Merchandising & Algorithm Performance team focuses on maximizing member satisfaction and engagement by improving how titles are distributed and promoted across the Netflix product. In this role, you’ll partner closely with leaders across Content, Product, Engineering, and AI for Member Systems, along with other cross-functional stakeholders, to shape strategy and deliver meaningful impact through analytics, experimentation, causal inference, and machine learning.

What You’ll Do

  • Apply causal inference techniques and rigorous statistical analysis to generate actionable insights on how product features, content promotion, and algorithms influence member discovery and engagement

  • Develop robust metrics and measurement frameworks to support data-informed decision-making and product development focused on member delight

  • Build strong partnerships with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders to align insights with strategy and execution

  • Ensure high standards of data quality, trustworthiness, and analytical rigor in outputs that guide decision-making across multiple teams

  • Proactively identify emerging trends in content discovery to uncover new opportunities

  • Lead projects independently, taking ownership from problem framing through delivery

What You Bring

  • Advanced degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related quantitative discipline

  • 5+ years of experience in data science or related analytical roles

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex insights to both technical and non-technical audiences and build effective stakeholder relationships

  • Deep expertise in statistical methods, particularly causal inference, experimentation, and statistical learning

  • Proficiency in quantitative programming (e.g., Python) and data analysis using SQL

  • Comfort working in ambiguous environments with minimal structure, demonstrating strong ownership and initiative
