As a Staff Software Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in developing and maintaining critical backend systems. From managing APIs to overseeing key features like Payments, Analytics, and Subscription systems, your work will directly contribute to Murmuration’s mission of empowering civic engagement through data-driven solutions. 

You'll be the technical leader for your team, driving product development, ensuring quality, and collaborating with product management to align technical goals with business objectives. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Backend Development & System Design: Architect and implement robust APIs (Payments, Subscription, Auth, Analytics) ensuring high performance and scalability. 
• Technical Leadership: Guide the engineering team as a tech lead, maintaining code quality, managing technical debt, and driving engineering excellence. 
• Collaboration: Partner with Product Managers to prioritize features, manage sprints, and balance technical challenges with product delivery timelines. 
• Mentoring: Provide technical guidance to junior engineers through code reviews, paired programming, and knowledge sharing. 
• Process Optimization: Advocate for engineering improvements, process optimizations, and infrastructure upgrades to enhance performance and maintainability. 

Ideal Qualifications 

• 10-15 years of software engineering experience. 
• Strong expertise in TypeScript/JavaScript; experience with Go is a plus. 
• Hands-on experience with AWS (Lambdas, Fargate) and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines. 
• Solid understanding of backend architecture, RESTful API design, and scalable system development. 
• Experience with containerization tools like Docker or Kubernetes is a bonus. 
• Ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. 

Preferred Skills 

• Expertise in GraphQL and document databases like MongoDB. 
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (AWS CDK, Terraform). 
• Strong background in cloud services and deployment best practices. 
• Advanced understanding of security protocols and best practices.
