Senior Database Engineer

IDT Corporation is hiring a Senior Database Engineer to join its database services team. The role covers database analysis, design, and administration for strategic projects, with a focus on MongoDB, MySQL, and PostgreSQL in an enterprise environment. It is open to candidates in India and can be done remotely.

This is a fit for someone with 8-10 years of DBA experience who is self-motivated, works well with others, and can define and carry out long-term goals. IDT notes that deep MongoDB expertise is welcome even without much exposure to Oracle or MySQL.

What you will do

• Handle full-lifecycle database administration, including provisioning new MongoDB clusters, tuning replication, and backup and recovery
• Deploy software patches and manage schema changes
• Work with developers on collection, index, and SQL query design
• Perform database analysis and design functions for strategic projects tied to organizational goals
• Provide 24/7 support and take part in the DBA on-call rotation
• Troubleshoot application issues and design database objects

What they are looking for

• Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science or equivalent, with a minimum of 8-10 years of DBA experience
• Deep experience with MongoDB, MySQL, or PostgreSQL databases
• Experience with databases hosted on Linux
• Database architecture and high availability solutions
• Amazon RDS platform
• Troubleshooting application issues and database object design
• Excellent communication, problem solving, multitasking, troubleshooting skills, logical thinking, and attention to detail
• Ability to work closely with others in a team environment and define, plan, and implement long-term goals and tasks

Nice to have

• Prior experience with System or Network administration
• Oracle or CouchBase
