Senior Software Engineer (Full-Stack)

Cobalt AI builds Cobalt Monitoring Intelligence, a hybrid AI system that runs cloud-hosted with edge-deployed hardware. It provides human-verified, real-time monitoring of surveillance cameras, alarms, and robots across enterprise locations. The company is hiring a Senior Full Stack Engineer to own the interfaces security teams use every day, including live robot video feeds, event triage workflows, real-time alarm dashboards, and fleet management tools built in React and TypeScript. You will also work across the backend in Django/Python and GraphQL to build the APIs behind those experiences.

What you will do

• Build and refine real-time security dashboards, event triage interfaces, and fleet management tools used by security teams 24/7
• Design and implement complex, interactive UIs, including canvas rendering for environment maps and robot positioning, data visualization, live robot video via WebRTC, and subscription-driven event streaming
• Own component architecture in a monorepo and contribute to a Storybook-driven design system
• Build and extend the GraphQL API, including queries, mutations, and WebSocket subscriptions, serving all frontend applications
• Work with Django models in PostgreSQL, covering multi-tenant data isolation, schema design, query optimization, and migrations
• Ship full-stack features end-to-end, from React components to GraphQL mutations to Django models and background jobs
• Partner with the CDS and ML teams on the detection-to-event pipeline
• Write well-tested code with strong observability, including tracing, structured logging, and metrics
• Take part in code reviews, architectural discussions, incident response, and on-call rotations

What they are looking for

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with depth in frontend development
• Strong proficiency in React and TypeScript, with opinions about component architecture, state management, and rendering performance
• Experience building complex, interactive UIs, such as canvas or 2D rendering, real-time streaming, data visualization, or WebRTC
• Backend fluency in Python and Django, including building GraphQL APIs, writing migrations, and optimizing ORM queries
• A solid understanding of PostgreSQL, including data modeling, indexing, and query performance
• Comfort working in a monorepo with shared packages, generated types, and cross-team code ownership
• Experience deploying to AWS and working with containerized applications

Pay and benefits

The salary range is USD 160,000 to 210,000 per year. Actual compensation is determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law. The role also includes equity and full benefits covering medical, vision, and dental, plus flexible work arrangements.
