Akamai’s Information Security organization is dedicated to safeguarding Akamai, its customers, and the broader online ecosystem. We are seeking a Security Architect to join our Product Security team, where you’ll help design and embed security into Akamai’s products and services. Your work will contribute directly to making the Internet a safer place, leveraging the reach and influence of Akamai’s global platform.  

In this role, you will work closely with engineering teams to integrate security into the design and development lifecycle of Akamai’s systems. You’ll collaborate with world-class security professionals across a global organization and contribute to projects serving customers within the United States government, including the Department of Defense (DoD).  

Key Responsibilities 

  • Conduct security-focused architecture and design reviews for applications, systems, and networks

  • Partner with development and infrastructure teams to remediate identified security issues

  • Collaborate with engineers to promote secure design and development practices

  • Provide expert guidance and answer security-related questions across teams

  • Contribute to documentation covering security standards, best practices, and compliance requirements

  • Act as a subject-matter expert during security incidents and remediation efforts

  • Recommend and implement appropriate tools and processes to ensure products meet security and compliance standards

What You’ll Bring
 
To succeed in this role, you will have:
 

  • Experience in security architecture within large, global organizations, including identifying security weaknesses at the application, operating system, and network levels

  • Familiarity with U.S. government security and compliance frameworks and standards such as FedRAMP, FIPS, NIST, STIG, and related guidelines

  • Up-to-date knowledge of modern security technologies, threat vectors, vulnerabilities, and attack techniques

  • Strong expertise in mitigating common vulnerabilities and designing custom security solutions aligned with application architecture

  • Broad security knowledge across multiple domains, including cloud security, network security, cryptography, and identity management

  • Experience with threat modeling or risk analysis frameworks such as STRIDE, STAMP, or similar methodologies

Compensation & Benefits
 
For U.S.-based candidates, the base salary range for this role is $126,100 – $261,900 per year, depending on experience, skills, certifications, and location. Compensation for candidates outside the U.S. may vary. The total rewards package may include performance bonuses, equity awards, and participation in the Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
