Remote Front-End Rails Developer

At DesignFiles, we’re creating the leading platform that empowers interior designers to manage every aspect of their projects—from initial concept through final delivery. Over 5,500 designers already depend on our tools, and our fully remote team of 30+ continues to expand. If you’re passionate about building high-quality products that solve real customer challenges, we’d love to connect.

What You’ll Do

  • Drive the evolution of our Design/Presentation Editor into a modern, Canva-like creative tool supporting moodboards, room mockups, client presentations, reusable templates, and more.

  • Build intuitive, high-performance UI components that power core editing features—drag and drop, layering, resizing, grouping, alignment, snapping, navigation, and on-canvas text/image editing.

  • Work closely with product and design teams to transform complex user needs into smooth, efficient creative workflows.

  • Help define the editor’s architecture to ensure it remains fast, scalable, and easy to maintain as new capabilities are added.

  • Contribute to a polished, design-centric experience comparable to Canva or Figma—tailored specifically to interior designers.

  • Participate in routine team processes including daily standups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong vanilla JavaScript expertise, including DOM/event handling, canvas or SVG rendering, and performance optimization.

  • Experience building or contributing to visual editors, creative tools, or browser-based design apps is a major plus.

  • Solid CSS skills, ideally with experience using Tailwind or similar utility-first frameworks.

  • Proficiency with Stimulus.js, Turbo, Hotwire, ViewComponents, and the modern Rails front-end ecosystem.

  • 3+ years of hands-on Ruby on Rails experience.

  • Someone who takes complete ownership—from idea to deployment—ensuring high-quality, scalable solutions.

  • Fluent English with clear and professional communication skills.

This is a full-time, 40-hour/week remote contract position. We are seeking individual candidates (not agencies) located within ±2 hours of Central European Time (CET).

If you have experience building browser-based editors or creative tools—and you’re passionate about crafting fast, intuitive, design-focused user experiences—we’d love to hear from you.
