Senior Software Developer 2

D2L is hiring a Senior Software Developer 2 in Canada. This is a role for experienced developers who care about engineering best practices and want to shape how teams work through the code they write, the decisions they make, and the knowledge they share. The position is open to fill an existing vacancy.

What you will do

You will work on a wide range of technologies, including distributed systems, machine learning, user interfaces, mobile, and cloud computing. Senior developers at D2L use their past experience to help teams be more productive and effective. Your ideas and perspectives feed into decisions about which technology the company invests in.

The role includes providing technical leadership across teams through mentoring, influence, and leading by example. You will also solve ambiguous multi-system problems that span teams and initiatives.

What they are looking for

• Strong communication skills for technical discussions and collaboration
• Experience with object-oriented design and proficient coding skills in C++, C#, or Java
• A strong understanding of computer science topics: data structures, algorithms, databases, and distributed systems
• A body of work showing a consistent ability to complete technically challenging work
• Acumen with artificial intelligence tools
• A bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a similar technical discipline
• Developers at this level typically have 8 or more years of experience

Pay and benefits

The expected base salary range for a new hire is CAD 110,000 to 155,000 per year. The annualized base salary offered depends on each candidate's relevant knowledge, skills, education, training, and experience, and is aligned with market data for the geographic location and industry. The role may be eligible for additional benefits, including a Wellness Subsidy, Equity Grants, Variable Incentive, and more.
