Senior Data Scientist - Pinterest

What You’ll Do

As a Senior Data Scientist at Pinterest, you’ll play a pivotal role in quantifying success, measuring progress, and uncovering opportunities for improvement. Your responsibilities will include:

• Quantifying Success: Define what “winning” looks like by identifying the balance between infrastructure spending and business or product growth.
• Tracking Progress: Develop dashboards, forecast models, and analyses to ensure we’re on track to meet infrastructure goals. Dive into why targets are met—or missed.
• Strategic Analysis: Conduct in-depth analyses to reveal insights and strategies for optimizing infrastructure and driving growth.
• Team Leadership: As the most senior member of the data science team, you’ll guide strategic roadmaps, prioritize projects, and elevate data rigor across the organization.
• Collaboration: Work closely with partners in Engineering, Finance, and Technical Program Management to align goals and execute key initiatives.

What We’re Looking For

We’re searching for an experienced data scientist who combines strong technical skills with exceptional leadership abilities. Ideal candidates will have:

• At least 8+ years of post-graduate academic and industry experience applying scientific methods to solve real-world problems using web-scale data.
• Proven expertise in leveraging data to address complex challenges and inform strategic decisions.
• Advanced proficiency in at least one scripting language, preferably Python or R, and SQL/Hive.
• Strong business acumen with the ability to translate vague questions into actionable analyses and success metrics.
• Excellent communication skills, enabling you to lead cross-functional initiatives and effectively convey findings to leadership and product teams.
• A proven track record of leading key technical projects and influencing team scope and outputs.

This position offers a base salary range of $148,049–$304,496 USD, based on factors such as location, experience, and expertise. Additional benefits include equity opportunities and access to a wide array of employee perks.
