Global Operations Associate - Ocean Freight at Flexport — remote job on CafeRemote

Flexport is hiring a Global Operations Associate for ocean freight in Copenhagen. You would own the end-to-end movement of ocean freight shipments into and out of Denmark and Sweden, with potential scope covering the UK, and act as the operational point of contact for customers, carriers and logistics partners.

The role suits someone with freight forwarding or logistics experience who wants to work with automation and AI-powered tools in a fast-moving, international team.

What you will do

  • Own the end-to-end movement of ocean freight (FCL and LCL) shipments into and out of Denmark and Sweden, with potential scope covering the UK. This covers bookings, documentation, shipment follow-up, exception management and coordination with customers, carriers and logistics partners, including full operational execution and the customer experience.
  • Deliver a first-class client experience through proactive communication, problem-solving and timely resolution of operational challenges.
  • Use Flexport's technology, automation and AI-powered tools to manage shipments, identify exceptions, make informed operational decisions and improve how freight moves.
  • Meet internal KPIs and SLAs that demonstrate quality delivery, managing your own priorities and commitments independently.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) while identifying opportunities to improve processes and ways of working.
  • Avoid leakages and keep costs in mind in the interest of the company.
  • Support shipments managed by partners as Flexport drives partner autonomy and parity with insourced operations, where applicable.

What they are looking for

  • Completed professional training as a forwarding agent (speditør) is preferred. Alternatively, a relevant BA/BS degree combined with relevant work experience in freight forwarding, logistics or operations.
  • 2+ years of experience in freight forwarding, logistics or operations, ideally with hands-on ocean freight experience.
  • Fluent in Danish or Swedish and English, both written and spoken.
  • Comfortable with technology and eager to adopt new tools, automation and AI-powered solutions. Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective time management, with the ability to prioritize and manage a large volume of tasks.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to seek and receive feedback effectively.
  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Teamwork and relationship building.
  • An orientation toward working smarter and adopting best practices and standardization.
  • Problem-solving capabilities.
  • A compliance-first attitude, since the company operates in a heavily regulated industry.
  • A client service mindset, committed to client satisfaction and to investigating and resolving client issues.

What is offered

  • A role in a fast-growing company with a dynamic, international environment and a young, international team.
  • The chance to work with leading technology, automation and AI-powered tools that are changing how freight forwarding is done.
  • Daily catered lunch including vegetarian options, plus breakfast items, healthy snacks and drinks in the office.
  • Pension scheme, with medical insurance covered under it.
  • Employees in Denmark are insured and covered under the rules and regulations set up between employer and employee.
  • 30 vacation days a year.
  • Equity program: every team member becomes a shareholder.
  • Employee Assistance Program through Aetna Resources for Living, provided at no cost to you and your household members.
  • Parental leave benefit allowing both mothers and partners to take time off for pregnancy, childbirth and bonding with a new child.
