Sales Engineer, Mid Market - TOLA

Samsara is hiring a Sales Engineer for the mid-market TOLA region. You would work with customers in agriculture, construction, field services, transportation, and manufacturing to apply IoT hardware, sensors, and cloud software to their operations. This is a remote role for candidates in the TOLA region of the United States, excluding the San Francisco Bay, New York City, and Washington DC metro areas.

What you will do

• Become an expert on Samsara products, including IoT, AI, and computer vision.
• Explain to prospects how businesses like theirs use Samsara to solve industry challenges.
• Deliver discoveries, demonstrations, value assessments, and proof of concept implementations.
• Walk installers through installation scenarios, share best practices, and help build deployment plans.
• Write scripts against Samsara's open API to solve real-world problems and document them for other sales engineers.
• Act as a consultant to customers to open the door for integration, upsell, and cross-sell.
• Serve as a liaison between product and sales teams, translating technical feedback and enrolling customers in beta programs.

What they are looking for

• Bachelor of Science degree from a four-year accredited university.
• 2+ years working with customers in pre-sales, customer success, or customer/product support.
• Ability to influence stakeholders based on technical sales acumen and understanding of business processes and change management.
• Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Experience managing hardware and/or software product evaluations.
• Basic understanding of electronics and electrical systems.
• Experience with technical consulting, cloud software, cloud-connected hardware, computer networking, business systems integration, automation, and control systems.
• Must be located within and authorized to work in the United States.

Nice to have

• Degree or advanced education in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience with task automation scripting and transferring data between systems using Bash, Python, JavaScript, or a similar language.
• Experience building solutions with open APIs.
• Understanding of vehicle diagnostic systems, including CAN bus and Power Take Off applications.
• Hobbyist interest in electronic systems, such as car audio installation, classic car restoration, home automation, or building with Raspberry Pi or Arduino.
• Track record of selling complex technical solutions through strategic sales cycles.

Location and travel

This is a remote position open to candidates residing in the TOLA region of the United States, except for the San Francisco Bay Metro, New York City Metro, and Washington DC Metro. The role requires travel up to 50% of the time, and proximity to an international airport is preferred.

Pay and benefits

The annual on-target earnings range for this full-time position is USD 95,795 to 144,900. Pay may vary based on city of residence, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Total rewards include base salary, performance-based bonus or variable pay, and equity for eligible roles.
