IntelliJ Plugins Engineer

VirtusLab is hiring a Senior Engineer to work on IntelliJ-based IDEs such as PHPStorm, RubyMine, or core plugins within the JetBrains ecosystem. The role is for someone with at least five years of Kotlin or Java development experience who wants to shape the direction of a plugin or IDE and improve the experience for other developers.

What you will do

• Implement new features for IDEs or plugins in the JetBrains ecosystem.
• Maintain clean and testable code.
• Review contributions from others.
• Collaborate with a team of engineers.
• Influence the direction of the plugin or IDE you work on.

What they are looking for

• 5+ years of experience in Kotlin or Java development.
• Advanced Kotlin or Java skills.
• Advanced multithreaded programming skills.
• Good understanding of concurrency, preferably Kotlin Coroutines.
• Experience extending IDEs or working with any GUI Java frameworks.
• English at B2 level or higher.
• Passion for improving developer tools and open-source software.

Nice to have

• Plugin development for IntelliJ.

• Experience working on compiler or code analysis tools.

Location

The position is open in Germany, India, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
