Licensed Practical Nurse - TeleNurse (8 Hours/Week)

Springfield Clinic is hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse for its TeleNurse team. This is a remote position, but you must live within 100 miles of Springfield, Illinois. The role is part-time at 8 hours per week and reports to the TeleNurse Supervisor.

What you will do

• Handle medication refill requests, document nursing home reports, provide select lab results, and verify orders and information in the electronic health record.
• Collect data and perform basic nursing assessments to identify patients who need RN TeleNurse Triage services.
• Report emergent, urgent, or routine patient healthcare needs to the Charge Nurse.
• Prioritize calls in the queue and manage your time and resources.
• Enter data during calls.
• Serve as a resource for new LPNs.
• Advocate for patients by working with the RN TeleNurse.
• Provide staffing during critical staffing times.
• Work 4 to 5 of the 9 observed holidays.
• Communicate by phone in a calm, professional manner.
• Follow Springfield Clinic's incident reporting policy and procedures.
• Complete all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training and accomplishments as required by policy.
• Provide customer service and follow Springfield Clinic's Code of Conduct and Ethics Standards.
• Perform other job duties as assigned.

Hours

Week 1: Friday 5-8pm, Saturday 8am-1pm.

Week 2: Monday and Thursday 5-8pm.

What they are looking for

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current Illinois LPN license.
• At least three years of clinical experience in an acute ambulatory or acute care setting.
• Current LPN license in the State of Illinois.
• A pleasant, clear telephone voice.
• Must reside within a 100-mile radius of Springfield, Illinois.
• Intermediate computer skills and the ability to type 40 words per minute accurately.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task and work efficiently with minimal supervision across multiple software programs in real time.
• Comfort using multiple computer programs and electronic health records.
• Ability to sit for long periods of time.

About the role

This is a remote position. The LPN TeleNurse provides TeleNurse support services within the LPN scope of practice as defined by the Illinois Nurse Practice Act. The role promotes the philosophy of wellness and involves serving as a resource person, educator, and patient advocate.
