Systems Engineer, Data Platform & Integrations
Pavilion · United States · posted 4 weeks ago
Applications closed on 28 October 2026
Pavilion is hiring a Systems Engineer to own the connections between its core business systems, data warehouse, and customer access logic. This is a hybrid role that touches data platform, backend systems, and business systems architecture, and it is for someone who can write strong Python and SQL, work with APIs and webhooks, and make architecture decisions on their own.
Pavilion serves nearly 10,000 members worldwide and is past $10M ARR. The company started in the early 2010s when founder Sam Jacobs found that the higher he climbed in go-to-market leadership, the lonelier the work became. Those peer conversations grew into a global community of GTM professionals. The role is fully remote, with a distributed team that values autonomy and outcomes over face time.
What you will do
- Validate and implement the next chapter of Pavilion's system architecture.
- Own integrations across core systems, including tools like Stripe, HubSpot, Hivebrite, Slack, Snowflake, and AWS RDS.
- Design and maintain data flows between operational, product, sales, and financial systems, including entitlement logic and payments workflows.
- Build and maintain pipelines, transformations, and data models for customer, subscription, payment, revenue, engagement, and access data.
- Own the technical layer for entitlements and customer access logic.
- Support system migrations and new tool implementations, including data mapping, QA, and downstream reporting impacts.
- Improve data quality, freshness, observability, testing, and monitoring.
- Document architecture, source-of-truth decisions, data definitions, and system workflows.
- Partner with Operations, Sales, Marketing, and Finance to turn business needs into technical solutions, and write requirements independently.
- Communicate tradeoffs clearly and balance speed with long-term maintainability.
What success looks like
- System architecture that is fit-for-purpose, streamlined, observable, and reliable.
- A data warehouse that teams trust for reporting, operations, and decision-making.
- Customer, payment, entitlement, engagement, and revenue data that is interconnected and reconcilable.
- New systems, migrations, and integrations implemented cleanly.
What they are looking for
- 10+ years of experience in systems engineering, data engineering, analytics engineering, backend engineering, or business systems engineering.
- Strong Python experience for integrations, pipelines, APIs, automations, or backend services.
- Advanced SQL and experience with modern data warehouses such as Snowflake.
- Prior ownership of operational databases such as AWS RDS, Postgres, or similar.
- Experience building and maintaining integrations with third-party SaaS tools, such as Slack, Hivebrite, Circle, or Notion.
- Strong understanding of APIs, webhooks, event-driven workflows, and data synchronization.
- Experience with payment, subscription, and CRM systems is required. Stripe experience, or the ability to show a deep understanding of Stripe documentation, is necessary.
- Familiarity with the HubSpot API and prior exposure to subscription businesses is preferred.
- Experience creating entitlement systems, access-control logic, or subscription-based products is ideal, along with the ability to build automated workflows into that logic.
- Strong documentation habits and clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to make sound, scalable architecture decisions in a fast-moving environment.
Pay and location
The salary is USD 185,000 per year. The role is based in the United States and is fully remote.
