Engineering Manager - Analytics House at DoiT International — remote job on CafeRemote

DoiT International is hiring an Engineering Manager for its Analytics House team. This is a hands-on, player-coach role: you lead a team of engineers while staying in the code, reviewing pull requests, and taking part in architectural decisions. The role sits in the company's global R&D team and is remote, based in the East Coast US, the UK, Ireland, Estonia, the Netherlands, Sweden, or Israel.

What you will do

  • Lead a team of engineers, owning both its delivery and its development.
  • Write and review code, and be a credible voice in technical decisions because you have hands in the work.
  • Drive the team's architectural and technical design decisions alongside senior engineers.
  • Uphold engineering standards through pull-request review and a healthy release process.
  • Work AI-augmented and lead an AI-augmented team, holding the same quality bar for what ships.
  • Own the team's commitments: what was promised, when, and at what quality.
  • Run planning, prioritization, and delivery without becoming a process bureaucrat.
  • Partner with the Technical Product Owner and Product team on scope, sequencing, and tradeoffs.
  • Translate broader business objectives for the team and keep engineering effort aligned with them.
  • Re-plan, re-prioritize, and re-staff as the business moves, keeping the team steady.
  • Own hiring for your team: interview thoughtfully, decide quickly, and refuse to lower the bar.
  • Develop engineers through 1:1s, growth plans, performance reviews, and direct feedback.
  • Develop the next layer of leadership, including tech leads, senior engineers ready to manage, and ICs ready for staff roles.
  • Communicate upward to leadership, coach team members on focus and impact, and partner with Product, Design, GTM, and Customer Success.

What they are looking for

  • 10+ years of engineering experience, including 4+ years in engineering management roles where you actively coded.
  • Hands-on experience building cloud-based SaaS products, running services in production on AWS, GCP, or Azure, and owning availability, cost, and the customer-facing surface.
  • An API-first mindset: products built so both humans and agents can interact with the platform through APIs.
  • A strong background in databases, SQL, query optimization, and BigQuery.
  • A track record of visibly transforming an engineering team, with measurable improvements in delivery velocity, technical quality, or team caliber.
  • Deep technical fluency in your team's primary stack, able to read, write, and review code at a senior level.
  • Strong opinions on how high-performing engineering teams operate, and a clear philosophy on hiring, coaching, performance management, and technical decision-making.
  • Excellent judgment under pressure: making calls quickly with imperfect information, communicating them clearly, and owning the outcomes.
  • Direct, candid communication, giving hard feedback well and hearing it well.

Bonus points

  • An established AI-augmented workflow, with opinions on applying AI tools and agentic workflows to raise velocity and quality.
  • Hands-on experience with more than one cloud provider.
  • A background in scaling teams, processes, or technical systems as an organization grows.
